FAQs

What is custom bridal?

Custom or couture bridal is the design and manufacturing of a made-to-measure gown. This gown will be created specifically for you, the bride! It all begins with an idea, sketched, patterned, and brought to life. Custom bridal is a great avenue for many brides. Dying to know more? Shoot me a message!

Where are K. jacwen gowns made?

All of our gown are made right here in Iowa! With planted roots in the Midwest, I strive to be true to supporting local and keeping the work close to home.

how much does a custom gown cost?

The best answer for this is: Please reach out and let’s chat! Our range is very similar to any other boutique or atelier with gowns ranging from $1000-$10,000+. Each custom gown is different in many ways, which means all gowns vary in cost. Many factors go into the final cost of a gown. Fill me in on your budget and I will do everything I can to create your dream gown!

How does sizing work?

I like to think the sizing of a gown is as custom as the design of the gown. Every body is different and because we are strictly custom at this time I prefer to take measurements for each of my brides. There is an option to begin the process with a general number size, but I prefer the latter!

will i need additional alterations?

It’s as simple as NO! Throughout your individualized fittings I will make sure your gown fits you exactly as it should. Adjustments will be made as we progress in production and at your final fitting you will have a gown that is wedding day ready!

**Out of town/state brides are the exception. Virtual fittings are an option and have shown to be successful! Plus, I love to travel and I hope you do too. Let’s make this work!

how far in advance do i need to book for a custom gown?

The production timeline currently runs 5-7 months. A rush fee will be added to any gown created in less than 3 months with 6 weeks being the smallest window for production.
